MARY ZAHRINGER

SHERWOOD (1915)

Oct. 27---Mrs. Mary Zahringer passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Marx, at St. John at Noon Friday, aged 73 years. The deceased was born at Freidenburg, Prussia, and came to America in 1862. In 1865 she was joined in the holy bonds of matrimony to Wendelin Zahringer, At Fond du Lac, the Rev. Pickle performing the ceremony. Their union was blessed with 11 children of whom two daughters, Mrs. Jos. Phillipi of Soberton and Mrs. John Marx of St. John and six sons, John of New London, Joseph of Minneapolis, Math. and Phillip of Laona, William of Stockbridge, Nick of Sherwood, with her husband survive her. Mr. and Mrs. Zahringer settled at Ashford shortly after their marriage. From there they moved to St. John onto a farm on which they lived until they retired and made their home at Sherwood. On May 10th the venerable couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary amid children and grandchildren, a most enjoyable event. Shortly after that she took sick and was taken to the hospital for an operation. She gradually failed until released by death. The funeral was held Monday from the Sacred Heart Church, the Ladies of the Christian Mothers Society escorting the body to and from the church with their banner draped in mouring. Rev. Father Jaeckle spoke in fitting words of the beautiful character of the departed. Interment was made at Stockbridge in the family lot, Rev. Father Paul Herb conducting the services.




MRS.  ETHEL ZAHRINGER

LAONA, WISCONSIN, APRIL 1950

Funeral services were conducted by Father S. A. Stern Wednsday, April 26, for Mrs. Ethel Zahringer, 61, who died suddenly from a heart attack at her home April 23. Palbearers were Earl and Rolland Fellion, Ralph and Wm. Gruman, Francis Alderton and Chester Irish. Burial was in the Laona Cemetary. Relatives from away who attended the services were Nick, William, Art and Leo Zahringer of Hilbert,Wisconsin, Fred Fellion of Pebelo, Colorado, Henry Fellion of Stephenson, Mich., and Carl and Rolland Fellion of Racine. Deceased was born Nov. 15, 1888, at Stephenson, Mich., the daughter of Louis and Pauline Fellion. She came to Laona many years ago. Surviving are her father, Louis Fellion, of Stephenson, Mich., seven daughters, Mrs. Earl Charlton, Miss Evelyn Zahringer and Mrs. Al Senner of Milwaukee, Mrs. Francis Alderton and Mrs. Erich Kuester of Laona, Miss Marion Zahringer of Green Bay and Mrs. Milton Kramer of Kewaskum; three sons John, Philip, and Matthew, 27 grand children. Her husband Philip and son Edmund preceded her in death.


Jean Mary (Nee-Zahringer) Hawley

Jean Mary Hawley, age 43, of Rhinelander, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at her home. She was born on August 5, 1955 in Laona, the daughter of John and Myra (nee-Smithiam) Zahringer.
She attended schools in Laona, graduating in 1974, and also attended Nicolet College, studying accounting. She married Jeff Hawley on February 19, 1977 in Laona. Jean and Jeff lived in Laona where Jean was employed by Schaefer's Food Mart in Crandon. For the last three years she was employed at twist Drill. She moved to Rhinelander in September 1998
She is survived by her two sons, Scott and Steven, of Rhinelander; a daughter, Tara (Dave) Hawley, of Green Bay; a brother Larry Zahringer of Milwaukee; and two sisters Gloria (Jack) Matuszewski and Linda Zahringer, boh of Laona, and Jane (Gary) Gimmer of Iron Mountain, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service was held at 10:30, Saturday, April 17, 1999, at the Carlson Funeral Home, with Fr. Rob Krajewski officiating.
